Leaders Arise 2.0: First Time Volunteers
C.I.T.Y. Summer Leadership camp is in its 5th year and the camp is made possible every year because of our passionate volunteers who clear their calendars for 10 days in August to serve at camp. Every year we have new volunteers join the ever growing H.O.P.E family; we would like to introduce you to the new members of our family across the four locations.
We Interviewed a few of our first time volunteers and asked a few questions about their expectations for C.I.T.Y and experience so far.

BRIEFLY TALK ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE SO FAR
I am glad that there is a platform like this that teaches teens about leadership and nation building. Nigeria needs this and I hope the seeds planted in these young ones will cause a ripple effect for positive change and nation building.
Meeting the volunteers, I have come across young people who are passionate about their country. In them I see hope for Nigeria.
The teenagers I have met so far are extremely intelligent, aware of the societal challenges and passionate about being the change agents we so desire.
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR CAMP?
I expect that I would have contributed in building the teenagers who are trailblazers and solution providers who 10, 20, 30 years from now would be playing key roles of leadership in the country. I expect that these young ones will not only be leaders of tomorrow, but leaders of today.

It’s been an exciting experience, this being my first time of volunteering. It’s also a fulfilling being a part of people’s greatness: “I mean the leaders”. Volunteering is an act of service and that’s what real leaders do. Leaders serve!
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR CAMP?
At the end of the C.I.T.Y. camp, it is my expectation that the purpose for which the camp initiative was founded is actualized; that the leaders go back to their fields of engagement empowered with the spirit of leadership to be the change the world desperately needs and value adding personalities.
