The C.I.T.Y summer camp 2017 which started on the 12th of August, 2017 has been on a thrilling drive. Today is the fourth day of the programme and the air is permeated with youthful zeal. It’s all idea generation and team work as the leaders with their guiding volunteers in squads enthusiastically prepare for camp competitions. The squads this year are: Peridot, Sapphire, Beryl, Garnet and Amethyst.
Over the last three days, Leaders Arise 3.0 has been an experience of learning and fun activities. From the leadership classes and a variety of workshops to media moments of beautiful selfies and the rekindling of old friendships formed during the last camp. Some of the exciting workshops were: wig making, public speaking, web design, graphic design, programming and bag making which was taught by a C.I.T.Y camp alumnus.
Further, the leaders engaged in health-promoting activities that were so much fun. We had football matches, racing, skip roping as some of the sport activities. It was a display of energy, passion, team loyalty and fitness as teenagers and volunteers put their bodies to revitalizing motion. The race competitions ended with Peridot squad as the overall winner, followed by Amethyst, Beryl, Garnet and Sapphire respectively. Here are some photos to give you a clearer idea.
A very interesting highlight of C.I.T.Y. 2017 camp was the session taken by Oluwatunbi Tolulope (CEO of Quadrev LLC), a Nigerian robotics company. Mr. Tolulope sensitized the leaders on the technological advancements prevailing in Nigeria and inspired them to be a part thereof. Being practical in his training, he taught the leaders about drones using samples which they got to fly. Of course, we got very lovely pictures, we couldn’t leave that out. Take a look.
C.I.T.Y. camp 2017 has been a beautiful experience thus far; we are definitely looking forward to the experiences the remaining days hold.
